Smart Utility Registration is aimed to make a reality out of the basic idea of developing a scanning process for deployed underground. The idea is to develop a method to bring scan data “from trench to GIS”, using fast and accurate registration methods. The design of this process will be in compliance with the rules and regulations, while optimizing cost and time efficiency of the registration process Specifically, Smart Utility registration is focused on designing an open source measurement and data management system based. It will integrate available technologies - such as newly available lasers in smartphones and low-cost GNSS RTK towards a first viable prototype. The conceptual model of the prototype depicts the relations between different stakeholders and technical entities. Siers Infraconsult is the ZoARG partner involved in this project - and eventually they are the adopter and user of the envisioned method.
